I had to clone out pieces of wire that hung the heart from the ceiling and reposition the image slightly. I also had to soften the shadows a bit using the blur tool.
Edit:
There seems to be some confusion on how the shot was made so I will explain it a little further, the plastic heart is hanging on a wire, the wire is hanging from the ceiling. I am wearing all black and the back ground behind me is also black. This serves to stop any overflow of light coming from the snoot modified strobe light that is aimed at my hands.
I placed accelerator on the heart, underneath the heart is a bucket filled with water to catch any charcoal fluid fall off. After the charcoal fluid was finished dripping off, I placed my hands below the heart at an angle as to appear as though my hands are actually holding the heart. Next my assistant lit the heart with a lighter and then she pushed a remote shutter release to fire off the camera. We did this about 30 times or so before we could get the shot right.
Very cool, awesome shot and concept- It would be interesting to see what could be done... (this is sort of stream-of-consciousness so bear with me) If somehow your face were hind the flames and you could see the fire reflected in your eyes? I think that's what I'm trying to say. Again, fantastic work, very aesthetically and mentally provocative.
